Brazilians to design their own shoes? The answer is Air Max 1 “Lanceiro ” ! Lanceiro, literally means spearman in english. Nike has given SneakersBR.com, a Brazilian blog site about shoes that has the opportunity to create a design with Air Max 1. The Designer Fabrico Machado focus on a town called Pernambuco for his inspiration. Pernambuco is known for its rural spearmen, who wears intricate costumes with vibrant colorful beads. The dots on the upper part of the shoes represent the beads, the specks of brown on the sole for mud, and the baby blue and pink suede is made to match the color of their costumes. This design is obviously made to represent where they came from and to show how proud they are to be from that region. The shoes itself is not meant to appeal to everyone, but it has deep cultural meaning. So I respect that. We should all be proud of our cultural background.
